• Cannot perform a vMotion to and from an ESXi host
• Cannot enable services from or to the ESXi host
• When attempting to enable services or vMotion the ESXi host fails

Bugünkü yazımda sizlere esxi hostun command line ile  nasıl yedeğinin alınacağını anlatacağım.

Conf Backup işlemi

-          Ssh ile Backup alacağınız Esx i Sunucuya bağlandıktan sonra sırasıyla aşağıdaki komutu çalıştırınız.

-          vim-cmd hostsvc/firmware/sync_config

-          vim-cmd hostsvc/firmware/backup_config

Conf Restore İşlemi :

-          sunucuya ssh üzerinden bağlanılır.

-          vim-cmd hostsvc/maintenance_mode_enter

-          winscp yazılımı ile kopyalanan configBundle konfigürasyon dosyası  backup dönülecek  esxi /tmp dizinin altına kopyalanır.

-          vim-cmd hostsvc/firmware/restore_config /tmp/configBundle.tgz

Bugün sizlere "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued" hatasından bahsediyor olacağım.Öncelikle belirtilen hata LSI logic SAS kontroller dan kaynaklanmaktadır.Belirtilen driver problemi 1.32.01 versiyonundan sonra çözülmüştür.

Shellshock Güvenlik Açığı güncelleme

Unix ve türevi işletim sistemlerinde ortaya çıkan Shellshock (bash) güvenlik açığı ile ilgili vmware tarafından yapılan son açıklama aşağıdaki gibidir.

Products

• vSphere ESXi/ESX Hypervisor
  ESXi 4.0, 4.1, 5.0, 5.1, and 5.5 are not affected because these versions use the Ash shell (through busybox), which is not affected by the vulnerability reported for the Bash shell.
  
  ESX 4.0 and 4.1 have a vulnerable version of the Bash shell.
  
  Note: After careful consideration, VMware will make VMware ESX 4.0 and 4.1 security patches available for the Bash Shell vulnerability. This security patch release is an exception to the existing VMware lifecycle policy. VMware is making this exception because of the reported critical severity of the Bash vulnerability and because the product passed the end of general support within the last four months. We encourage you to upgrade to our most current releases. The VMware Global Services teams are available to assist you in any way.
  
• Products that run on Windows
  Windows-based products, including all versions of vCenter Server running on Windows, are not affected.
  
• Products that are shipped as a virtual appliance or as an appliance

25.09.2014 tarinde yayınlanan bash (shellshock) güvenlik açığı bilindiği gibi unix sistemleri etkilemektedir. Belirtilen güvenlik açığı aşağıdaki adresten , ve ya güvenlik sitelerinden yayınlanmıştır.Belirtilen güvenlik açığının vsphere ürün ailesine bir etkisi bulunmamaktadır. Fakat Diğer VMware ürünlerinde ise güvenlik açığıyla ilgili soruşturma devam etmektedir.

 If you are using the VMware vCenter Server Appliance, beginning with vSphere 5.x you can download vCenter Server as a virtual machine appliance. With the VMware vCenter Server Appliance, the necessary components are contained in a pre-configured virtual machine.
